Today I will discuss one of the most underappreciated aspects of sports.... Can anyone make a guess? Well, let me just say.... it's "AQUATIC SPORTS" whenever a person hears this the first thing that comes to their mind is swimming and honestly that is normal because swimming is a globally famous sport and apart from the athletes who compete in aquatics sports or people who have a lot of knowledge about the sports industry and all the sports in general no one would know the sports that are a part of all aquatics events

In India, one sport that practically the whole population is familiar with is cricket. This sport evokes a wide range of emotions, and while I enjoy watching cricket, the reason it is so popular is due to us, the people of the country. Cricket receives extraordinary media coverage.

In reality, cricketers in India are treated as celebrities rather than athletes, which results in them mainly getting lime light which has both advantages and disadvantages...

The biggest disadvantage to this though is that the sport has captured the entire attention of the people of India , causing the many other sports to be in the back seat. People previously believed that this is the only sport that had potential and money, but now I wouldn't say that this is the case. We have evolved a lot and many sports have emerged such as badminton ,weightlifting, football, table tennis, tennis, wrestling, and so on. All of these have had adequate backing and have achieved success in major competitions such as the Olympics, but I personally believe that not only commoners, but athletes themselves, have a limited understanding of sports, particularly "AQUATICS."

Here is a list of aquatic sports you should have looked into sooner.....

Artistic Swimming, diving, water polo . When you tell someone about these activities, they usually assume you're doing swimming. Here's a real life example: I train for diving, and when asked what sport I play, I said diving. That person inquired if I was mistaken for swimming. I explained that it is an aquatic sport in which you do acrobats from a spring board or platform, and I even showed a video, but even after I explained, that person described diving to my friend as something related to swimming, and after that incident I became very frustrated. I realized that I needed to write a blog about aquatic sports because I'd had several incidents like this, and I knew that most people lack knowledge when it comes to aquatic sports.

Let's get a little more specific now : the main aquatic sports are swimming, artistic swimming, diving, water polo, and so on. There are other aquatic sports as well, but I don't want to confuse everyone with too many in one blog, so I'll write a second part that includes the other aquatic sports in the Olympics. Well, everyone knows what swimming is and what competitive swimming looks like, so I'm going to talk about other sports, such as artistic swimming.

Artistic swimming - I am 100% sure that people would have mistaken this for regular swimming but let me tell something this sport is far too different from swimming , Artistic swimming (formally synchro) is a hybrid form of swimming, gymnastics, and dance consisting of swimmers performing a synchronized routine of complex and dynamic underwater movements (known as figures) and arm movements in the water accompanied by music.

Diving : I am not talking about scuba diving this is completely different ,

Diving is one of the most dangerous sports, it's similar to gymnastics ,In diving you have to execute acrobatics while diving and aim for no splash or what they call a rip entry. These dives are performed from the 1m and 3m springboards, whereas high board or platform diving is performed from the 5m, 7.5m, and 10m platforms , and even failing a dive and falling on your back or face feels like falling on glass, but what can I say, it is part of the sport and is definitely a fun sport to watch and perform!!

Water polo : This sport is played between two teams of seven players each, in which you must earn points by throwing the ball into your opponent's goal, similar to handball in water. However, it is said to be one of the most difficult games because it involves a mix of strength, stamina, endurance, and so on.

So when someone says aquatics, it does not just mean swimming, there is more to it and who knows how well we would have done in these sports internationally if aquatics had received more attention, but I believe that it's never too late if more awareness is spread for sports like diving ,water polo ,artistic swimming, we yet can succeed in these sports for the years to come , because aquatics has been one of the most neglected sport areas in India and even globally, That has tremendously affected athletes and these sports as a whole. Consider this: if a major city like Mumbai lacks sufficient diving facilities, where would smaller cities and urban areas find them? Only if there was more awareness spread about these sports would people be interested in watching them, and more clubs would establish facilities with the proper coaches, equipment etc.. resulting in more athletes competing in the sport.

Top two reasons why aquatic sports should be prioritize

* MULTI-EVENT SPORTS-  Aquatic sports such as swimming and diving are multi-event sports, there are greater potential for a larger number of athletes to earn medals in different events, as well as for athletes to compete in different events of their choice.

* Fun to watch- Who wouldn't want to watch athletes compete in water, especially in  water polo? In water-polo, you clearly want your team to win, so the adrenaline is at an all-time high. It's honestly similar to watching football, and if more people knew about it and watched the sport, athletes would be more motivated to compete.

CONCLUSION

To be honest, I believe that aquatics is such an underappreciated aspect of sports that  should be given more importance and awareness so that athletes can perform at games such as the Olympics and even more athletes begin competing in aquatic sports, and we would then see a change in the popularity of these aquatic sports as well.

So I hope that after reading this blog you have gained a better understanding of "AQUATICS" and what sports are present, talking about these sports and researching it are the only ways it will get the attention it deserves.
